Hedervy’s Secret Formula Is Out Now!

Hedervy secret formula is out now

Hedervy is uniquely formulated with high-quality extracts from Germany.1 Using a special formulation of Hedera helix (dried ivy leaf) and Sambucus nigra (black elderberry fruit) extracts, these active ingredients are plant-based molecules and have beneficial health effects that are backed by scientific research.2,3

What are the active ingredients in Hedervy?

Hedervy secret formula launch announcement

1) Hedera helix (dried ivy leaf) extract

Hedervy contains an extract from the leaves of the common ivy plant (Hedera helix).1 Its use as herbal medicine has been well-documented for many years, and it is traditionally indicated as an expectorant to relieve coughs and throat irritation, and reduce phlegm or mucus congestion.4

Hedera helix extracts contain a variety of compounds, with one notable group being saponins (e.g. hederacoside, hederin, and others).4 These compounds have demonstrated the ability to relax air passages of the lungs, which can widen them and help provide relief from coughing.5 Additionally, they may also stimulate the secretion of lung surfactants,  which can help to soothe the respiratory tract.5

2) Sambucus nigra (black Elderberry fruit) extract

Hedervy Cold & Cough Syrup contains an extract from the black Elderberry fruit (Sambucus nigra). 1 It has been traditionally used as medicine for treating the common cold.3

Sambucus nigra extracts have been evaluated and found to contain a variety of compounds, with one notable group being anthocyanin flavonoids.3,7 These compounds have demonstrated anti-inflammatory and antiviral effects, which may explain the effect of Sambucus nigra in treating the common cold.7,8

Why choose Hedervy?

1) Effective amount of active ingredient

Hedervy has a Hedera helix drug-extract ratio (DER) of 5-7.5:1.1 This means it takes 5 to 7.5 parts of a plant to make one unit of the active ingredient extract.9 This ratio has been used in numerous clinical studies and shown to be effective in easing coughs.

2) Active ingredient complies with the European Pharmacopeia (Ph. Eur. Monograph 2148) standards

The European Pharmacopeia standards are a set of criteria that herbal medicines in the European Union have to meet in order to ensure its safety and efficacy.6 The dried ivy leaf (Hedera helix) extract found in Hedervy is in accordance with the European Pharmacopeia standards, achieving a “well-established” status for its use in relieving coughs in certain respiratory infections.4

3) Extraction process of active ingredients

Hedervy syrup contains high quality plant extracts which undergo a careful extraction process in Germany.1 This method retains and produces a highly standardised concentration of active ingredients within the plant extract.1 The extracts are manufactured under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) conditions from a sustainable supply chain.1

4) Rigorous testing

Every batch of active ingredient extracts that goes into each bottle of Hedervy syrup has been rigorously tested to contain a consistent concentration of active ingredients.
